Learning at Woodlands

Woodlands International School provides a supportive and nurturing learning environment that encourages practical, hands-on, real-life and relevant learning experiences where students can invest their talents positively and become passionate as regards the subject material in which they immerse themselves.

The combined attributes of the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC), International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and Cambridge (CIE) facilitate students to study a wide breadth of subject material in as great a depth as their intellect and passion can enable. The teachers at Woodlands are highly experienced, nurturing and understanding individuals who as well as internationally diverse are caring, creative and dynamic in their outlook and teaching styles.

As the only international school in the area, Woodlands International School provides a nurturing and wholesome learning environment where students can hone, develop and apply their talents and skills in a supportive and understanding framework, where ideas, opinions and creativity is valued.

As well as running the IEYC and IPC at the Early Years levels, Woodlands is an accredited Cambridge centre and as such we run the full Cambridge Programme at Primary, Lower Secondary, IGCSE and A Level as pre-university entry. At Woodlands we nurture the whole child, encouraging our students to be independent, articulate and globally aware and there is a firm expectation for our students to make a difference within their community and to invest their values and talents wisely.

Woodlands was established in 2013 and remains the only accredited international school in Sibu.

We offer a complete education for your child, from Nursery to Cambridge IGCSE. Students are taught the globally-recognised Cambridge International Curriculum, in a warm, friendly and nurturing environment.

On-going professional development locally, nationally, and internationally ensures that Woodlands’ teachers offer high-quality teaching and learning. Many of our teachers are expatriates, ensuring a blend of best practices from both Malaysia and other countries.

Regular field trips and excursions are another feature of the school’s programme of study, ensuring ideas and concepts are realised in a practical setting and taking learning beyond the classroom.

Our extensive campus boasts three ICT suites, three dedicated science labs, a large swimming pool, a futsal and tennis court, a covered basketball court and a main hall with a capacity of over 500 people.

Woodlands also offers an extensive programme of co-curricular activities, to enable students to purse their interests and aspirations through a wide range of activities including sport, music, cooking, photography and the performing arts.

We understand the importance of developing children both academically and socially; our Core Values Awards promote the morals and attributes of community-minded citizens and life-long learners.

Dear Secondary students,

As we are halfway through Term 4, please be reminded of some important Term 4 dates below:

  1. Year-end Exam: 14-22 November (Year 10); 16-22 November (Year 7-9) **All students are expected to sit for the Year-end Exam during the designated dates above only. No special requests or make-up exams will be allowed.
  2. Last CCA for 2022: 24 November 2022 (Thursday)
  3. Last day of classes: 30 November 2022 (Wednesday)
  4. Celebration of Learning (COL)/Year 11 Graduation Ceremony: 30 November 2022 (Wednesday); all Secondary students will join the COL
  5. Parent-Teacher Conference (PTC): 1-2 December 2022 (Thursday & Friday)
  6. Academic Year 2023 Booklist Release: 1 December 2022 (Monday)
